Mercer County Narcotics Task Force Seizes $34,400 in Drugs, Two Handguns in Hamilton

The Mercer County Narcotics Task Force concluded a month-long heroin and cocaine investigation this week with one arrest, and the seizure of cash, handguns and $34,400 in drugs, Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo J. Onofri reported.

Officials say Tuesday evening, October 18, officers with the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office, and the Hamilton, Princeton and Trenton police, under the command of the prosecutor’s Special Investigations Unit, executed search warrants at Nnanna Akuma’s apartment on Norman Court in Hamilton.

Police arrested Akuma without incident leaving his residence. He was found to be in possession of approximately 50 grams of raw heroin hidden behind his testicles officials said.

A search of the apartment revealed 110 grams of powder cocaine, 46 grams of crack cocaine, 32 grams of raw heroin, 12 bricks of heroin, two 9mm handguns with extended magazines and $5,740 in cash.

Prosecutor Onofri stated the seized narcotics have an approximate street value of $34,400.

Police say Akuma, 26, is charged with numerous first- and second-degree drug and weapons offenses. The prosecutor’s office has filed a motion to detain him.

Despite having been charged, every defendant is presumed innocent until found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
