Mendham Crash Injures Two Officers

The two Mendham police officers were transported to an area hospital after a crash involving a tractor-trailer last night.

Officers were on routine patrol when the vehicle was struck by a tractor-trailer on old Route 24 (Mendham Road) at approximately 7:54 p.m.

The two officers involved -later identified as Robert Kalweit and Jason Hensley - were transported to Morristown Medical Center.

As of this morning, Officer Kalweit was released after treatment for minor injuries.

Officer Hensley remains in the hospital in stable condition.

The driver of the tractor-trailer was unharmed and is cooperating with the investigation.

No charges have been filed.

The incident continues to be under investigation by both the Mendham Township Police and the Morris County Prosecutor's Office Accident Reconstruction Team.
