Maplewood Police Respond to Domestic Disturbance, Shots Fired Incident

The Maplewood Police Department is currently investigating a shots fired incident that occurred within the township on Sunday, shortly after noon.

AdOfficers were dispatched to a residence on Maplewood Avenue following reports of a domestic disturbance.

Upon arrival and subsequent on-scene investigation, it was determined that 38-year-old Mr. Kevin Lafferty of Maplewood had discharged a firearm inside the home.

Maolewood police said there were no injuries reported as a result of this incident.

Kevin Lafferty was arrested at the scene and has been charged with multiple offenses, including Aggravated Assault, Possession of a Weapon for Unlawful Purposes, and Possession of Hollow Point Ammunition during the Commission of a Crime.

The firearm involved was recovered by officers and has been secured as evidence.AdFollowing the processing of the scene, Mr. Lafferty was transported to the county jail pending further legal proceedings.

The Maplewood Police Department wishes to reassure the community that there was no direct threat to the public at any time.

This appears to be an isolated incident stemming from a domestic dispute. However, as part of our commitment to thorough investigation and public safety, the Maplewood Police Detective Bureau is continuing its investigation into the matter.

The department asks anyone with information related to this incident to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation.
