Maplewood Police took a man into custody and charged him with a violent assault on his mother early Wednesday morning.
According to a statement released by Maplewood officials, at approximately 7:45 a.m., the Maplewood Police Department received a 911 call from a good Samaritan stating that a woman was injured in the 1600 block of Springfield Avenue.
Officials said Maplewood Police arrived to find a 50-year-old female with multiple severe injuries at that location.
The unidentified woman was immediately transported to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment officials said.
Officers determined that this was a domestic violence incident between mother and son.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
