Man Wanted for Stealing Saxophone from Church in Newark

An arrest warrant has been issued for Mr. Hector Maldonado, 55, of Newark who broke into a church and stole a saxophone on November 25, 2021.

Police said they responded to a call about a burglary that occurred around 6 a.m. at the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church on Lincoln Avenue.

When officers arrived, church officials told them that the glass window in the men’s restroom had been shattered and that suspect was captured on surveillance video taking the saxophone.

Officers learned that Maldonado was the suspect after they canvassed the neighborhood and gathered information about his identity.
