Man Wanted for South Brunswick Murder Arrested in NY

South Brunswick Township

Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey and Chief Raymond J. Hayducka of the South Brunswick Police Department announced that a township man was arrested this morning in New York and was charged with killing a 47-year-old woman in the home they shared.

Andre Griffith, 37, was apprehended at Times Square at 1:15 a.m. following a week-long search for the defendant, who was charged with murder in the death of Samantha Ross.

Griffith is being held in New York. It was not immediately determined when he will be returned to New Jersey. Bail in New Jersey has been set at $1 million.

Prosecutor Carey said police initiated an intensive search for Griffith after the homicide was discovered on September 24, 2015.

The investigation began after relatives of Ms. Ross, concerned for her welfare, called police, who entered the home at 607 Jones Drive and found the woman. She was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:07 a.m.

An autopsy performed by the Middlesex County Medical Examiner’s Office listed the cause of death as asphyxiation.

The investigation is active and is continuing.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Eric Tighelaar of the South Brunswick Police Department at (732) 329-4646, or Detective Craig Marchak of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office at (732) 745-3254.
