Man Wanted for Shots Fired Incident in Newark

Police officials in Newark seeks the public’s help in locating **Mr. Joel Herrera, 20, of Newark** who they say is wanted for robbery and an aggravated assault shooting incident that occurred on Tuesday, September 25th.

According to a statement released by police at approximately 9:50 p.m., the victim reported that he was robbed at gunpoint by two males in the 500 block of North 6th Street with the suspect firing one shot.

Police say the victim was not injured during the robbery.

Detectives assigned to the Major Crimes Shooting Response Team investigating this incident have developed sufficient evidence identifying Herrera as one of the suspects where they then obtained a warrant for his arrest for charged of aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, the illegal possession of a firearm, robbery and conspiracy according to police.

Police say this is an on-going investigation.

While police are actively searching for Herrera, we seek the public’s assistance in quickly locating and removing him from our streets.
