A Sunday evening police arrest of a "person of interest" who was wanted for questioning after authorities discovered six people stabbed, leaving three of them dead, in a Newark South Ward apartment on Saturday afternoon has residents recounted the disguised suspect several times in the area that he was captured in.

Residents in the area of Pomona Avenue, who were on high alert since Saturday's brutal stabbing that occurred on Hedden Terrace, said the man appeared 'new' to the area as he walked around the neighborhood calm and wearing dreadlocks.

Police rushed to the area late Sunday evening where they cornered 26-year-old Jeremy Arrington in a house in the 200 block of Pomona Avenue according to authorities.

A massive show of police force that included Newark Police Emergency Services, The DEA, U.S. Marshalls, and SWAT, swarmed the neighborhood where they were able to take Arrington into custody without injury in about an hour.

It is not immediately clear whose house Arrington was captured in or if he held any hostages during the standoff.

Authorities are expected to release further information later this morning.

The Essex County Prosecutor's Office are handling the investigation.
