Man Wanted for Killing, Burning NJ Woman in Massachusetts Captured in Dominican Republic

Authorities captured a man wanted for the murder of a Paulsboro woman in Massachusetts according to reports.

According to published reports, Fernando Owens, 43 of Dorchester, Mass., was captured in Dominican Republic and identified as the suspect wanted in the Nov. 3, 2015 of Ashley Bortner, 29.

Authorities said Bortner was found dead alongside railroad track, wrapped in a comforter and on fire in Bridgewater Massachusetts.

Her hands were tied behind her back and her feet were tied together authorities said.

Authorities said after being on the run since November, Owens was apprehended in the Dominican Republic Tuesday.

He is being held by U.S. Marshals awaiting deportation back to Massachusetts.

Three individuals have previously been arrested in the case. Julian and Shannon Squires were charged as accessories after the fact and Ovi Cruz was accused of misleading police in the case authorities said.
