Police from Newark and Irvington guarded a multi-family building in the 70's block of Naden Avenue in Irvington at around 10 a.m. where a search for a suspect wanted for a shooting that left the victim suffering serious injuries in Newark was underway.
According to Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose, his Fugitive Apprehension Team arrested **Shaheed Clark, 38, of Newark,** who they said committed an attempted homicide in 2015 and an aggravated assault shooting that occurred on Friday, May 5, 2017.
Director Ambrose said, in the most recent offense, Clark fired several shots in the area of West Runyon Street and Seymour Avenue at approximately 9 a.m striking the te victim.
On August 1st, 2015, Director Ambrose said the same victim was shot at Elizabeth and Custer avenues where he suffered non-life threatening injuries.
Detectives developed evidence that Shaheed Clark was a suspect in the two shootings when they obtained a warrant for his arrest.
Clark was arrested in Irvington today and charged with possession of three weapons—two handguns and one rifle, possession of the weapons for unlawful purposes, and possession of the weapons while committing a narcotics offense.
Police also charged Clark with possession of the weapons by a convicted felon.
Police said Clark possessed 1,438 glassine envelopes of suspected CDS heroin, 325 vials of suspected CDS cocaine and 9.2 grams of suspected CDS marijuana with a street value of more than $15,000.00 and more $15,000.00 in cash.
Police charged him with possession, CDS, possession (heroin, cocaine, and marijuana), possession with the intent todDistribute, and possession of CDS with the intent to distribute within 1,000-ft. Of a School.
These charges are merely accusations.
The suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law
