Newark Police are reporting that a warrant has been issued for the arrest of Lascelles Anthony Peat, 33, of Newark, on a charge of aggravated assault against a police officer in connection with an incident that occurred today.
According to police at approximately 3 a.m., police responded to a West Ward residence on a report of a disturbance.
Police said a Newark Police Division officer was assaulted by a man she knows.
According to police, Peat fled the residence on foot following the incident.
Peat is described as 6’4” tall and 180 lbs. and has shoulder length dread locs and a goatee.
Police said he was last seen wearing a black jacket, gray hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.
While police are actively searching for Peat, they seek the public’s assistance in quickly locating and removing him from street streets.
