Atlantic County

A 51-year-old man wanted since 1999 for the sexual assault of an Atlantic County child was found working in an Advance Auto Parts in Philadelphia with a fake name.

According to authorities, Israel Ramos - who was working as Juan Vasquez-Perez - has been on the run since 1999 when he was charged with aggravated sexual assault of a minor, endangering the welfare of a child and sexual assault for the sexual assault of a preteen girl in Atlantic County.

In addition, Ramos allegedly in 2000 threatened his girlfriend with a gun following a domestic violence incident in Cumberland County. Authorities in connection with that incident charged him with unlawful possession of a weapon/handgun and aggravated assault with a firearm/threats of violence.

Officials said as detectives continued to search for Ramos, when an anonymous tip sent detectives to look on social media to investigate a Ramos family friend who was living with a man going by the name of Juan Vasquez-Perez.

As authorities began investigating, a facial recognition resulted in a 90 percent match between Vasquez-Perez and Israel Ramos.

As a result, on April 5th Ramos was taken into custody after he left his home.

Officials said Ramos is now in the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
