Man Throws Woman From Balcony in Jersey City Causing Fatal Injuries

Police in Jersey City are searching for a man who reportedly threw a woman from a balcony of a building in Jersey City Thursday morning causing fatal injuries. 

According to a preliminary investigation, firefighters were called to 18 Virginia Avenue to investigate reports of smoke coming from an apartment shortly before 1 p.m. 

Upon arrival, crews made entry into the apartment and found the small fire, then extinguished it. 

Police say a search of the property revealed that a female was lying on the ground suffering severe injuries after a male suspect threw her from the building's second-floor balcony. 

She was rushed to Jersey City Medical Center and later died from her injuries according to police. 

Police say the suspect is a tall black male who was last seen wearing a grey hoodie. He entered a black Volkswagen Jetta that sped away from the scene. 

The motive for the incident is under investigation by the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office.
