Man, Teen Arrested Within Hour of Armed Robbery, Paterson Store Holdup

Police announced the arrest of a 21-year-old city man and a 15-year-old juvenile, accused of shooting a 37-year-old man in the leg during a late night robbery Monday night.

Police responded to a residence on East 29th Street between 10th and 11th Avenues sometime around 11:15 p.m. last night.

At that location, the victim told police he was approached by two armed suspects - identified as Shamir Milligan, 21, and a 15-year-old juvenile - who demanded the victim’s belongings.

As the victim tried to flee the area, one of the suspects fired several rounds striking the victim in the leg.

The victim was transported to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center, where the victim is listed in stable condition.

As detectives continue to investigate, a report of shots fired in the area River Street sent police to the scene.

Arriving police discovered that shots were fired during the robbery of Cepeda Grocery, located on the 599 block of River Street, at approximately 11:55 p.m.

Police immediately transmitted a suspect and vehicle description.

The vehicle matching the description was pulled over on 7th Avenue and Alois Place at 12:05 a.m.

Milligan and the male teen were arrested on attempted murder, armed robbery, weapons offenses, and possession of stolen property.

Police seized three weapons - two .40 caliber semi-automatic handguns (one of which was reported stolen) and a 9 mm semi-automatic - and the cash proceeds stolen from the grocery store robbery.
