A male victim suffering traumatic physical injuries late Sunday night has died according to reports.
Police responded to the area of Ferry and Merchant Streets shortly before midnight where they located the victim suffering life threatening injuries after some type of physical trauma.
The man was transported by EMS to University Hospital where he was pronounced dead about an hour later according to reports.
A spokesperson for the Essex County Prosecutor's Office could not immediately confirm a homicide investigation as of 5:18 a.m. Monday morning.
The incident is currently being handled by the Newark Police Department.
