Man Stabbed His Wife to Death Then Drank Anti-Freeze in Maplewood

The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office confirmed that the deaths of a Maplewood couple discovered in their home earlier this summer have been ruled a murder-suicide
 

According to Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens II and Maplewood Police Chief Albert Sally, officers responded to a welfare check at 422 South 4th Street on July 11, 2025. 

 

Inside the residence, police found the bodies of 73-year-old Kathleen Constantino and her husband, 71-year-old Michael Constantino.

Autopsy results revealed that Kathleen Constantino died from stab wounds. 

 

Her husband, Michael Constantino, died from ingesting antifreeze, and his death has been classified as a suicide.

 

Officials said no additional information will be released and that the investigation into the matter has been formally concluded.
