There is an active homicide investigation underway in a Newark South Ward neighborhood after a shooting killed a man on Halloween -Wednesday- night.
According to preliminary reports, police responded to reports of shots fired that rang out in the 100 block of Huntington Terrace at approximately 8:15 p.m. sending police to the scene where they found a severely injured male suffering gunshot wounds at that location.
The victim was pronounced dead shortly after according to authorities.
The Essex County Prosecutor's Office has taken over the investigation and are on the search for the shooter.
The motive for the shooting remains under investigation.
