Police in Newark are investigating a stabbing incident that severely injured a male victim overnight in Newark.
A preliminary investigation indicated that police responded to reports of an injured person in the 400 block of University Avenue just before midnight.
Upon arrival, police found the unconscious and unresponsive victim bleeding heavily from his chest after being stabbed several times, according to reports.
Police say the victim was rushed to University Hospital, where medical personnel provided CPR in an attempt to revive the man.
Officers at the scene launched an investigation into domestic violence, but there were no confirmed reports of an arrest at this time.
