An adult male sustained life-threatening injuries late Monday night after being struck by a train near the Jersey Avenue Station, according to information released by NJ Transit.
The incident occurred at approximately 11:40 p.m. when an out-of-service train, which was not carrying passengers, was being moved through the area and struck the individual, who authorities say was trespassing on the tracks.
Emergency responders transported the victim to a nearby hospital for treatment. His condition has been reported as critical.
Officials confirmed that no members of the train crew were injured in the incident, and rail service was not impacted.
The investigation remains active and is being led by NJ Transit Police Department.
