An Atlantic County judge sentenced a man to serve jail time for a violent stabbing in Atlantic City in the spring of 2022.

Officials say Alejandro Navarette-Gonzalez, 25, from Pleasantville, was sentenced today to 10 years in New Jersey State Prison for the April 3, 2022, stabbing of victim, D.A., at the Los Compadres Bar in Atlantic City.

The defendant will be required to serve 85% of the 10-year sentence before he is eligible for parole.

According to Atlantic County officials, the stabbing culminated in a multi-person brawl during which Navarette-Gonzalez stabbed D.A. numerous times as several other people assaulted D.A.

Official said D.A. ultimately recovered from his injuries.

In January 2023, Navarette-Gonzalez pleaded guilty to Attempted Murder in the 1st Degree.

Assistant Atlantic County Prosecutor Louis Casadia prosecuted the case for the State.

The Atlantic City Police Department investigated the case.
