Authorities in Newark have launched an investigation into a stabbing incident in the city's South Ward Saturday morning.
At approximately 2:45 a.m., police were called to 31 Van Vechten to investigate reports of a robbery in progress.
Upon arrival, police said building security assisted a bleeding male who told them several unidentified male suspects jumped, robbed, and slashed him with a sharp object near the building.
The victim was treated for non-life threatening injuries while police launched an investigation into the violent encounter.
The suspects fled the scene and remained at large.
