Detectives for the Essex County Prosecutor's Office are investigating a shooting that fatally injured a man in Newark's Sout Ward on Monday night.
According to preliminary reports, gunfire rang out in the vicinity of Lyons Avenue and Wainwright Street just before 7:50 p.m.
Police officers arrived at the scene requested EMS on a rush after they found the bleeding and severely injured male victim suffering apparent gunshot wounds.
According to authorities, the unidentified victim was pronounced dead a short time later.
The motive for the shooting is under investigation and the suspects remain at-large.
Officials say there were no other injuries reported.
