Authorities in Essex County are investigating a shooting incident that left a man dead in Irvington Township overnight.
Officials are trying to piece together the circumstances behind the shooting, but a preliminary investigation, township authorities said officers responded to reports of shots fired on Park Place early Sunday morning.
According to the investigation, officers arrived and found a male victim suffering multiple bullet wounds at that location.
The victim is an unidentified black male who left a party shortly before being gunned down by suspects armed with a guns.
Police believe the incident was targeted but are continuing to investigate the motive for the violent/fatal encounter.
The suspects fled the scene and remain at large.
