Update: August 4th (10 a.m.)
A search is underway for a man who reportedly jumped into the Passaic River after a traffic stop in Harrison.
Sometime around 1 p.m., an unidentified man in his 30's allegedly jumped into the river and swam to one of the support beams of Bridge Street Bridge before escaping through a storm drain or possibly becoming trapped by rising water in the sewer system.
Police and firefighters responded to the scene to assist in the search.
The search continued Thursday morning.
