Authorities in Atlantic County announced that on Thursday, May 29, Jean Zambrano-Briones (not pictured), 28, from Egg Harbor Township, was indicted by an Atlantic County Grand Jury.
Atlantic County officials said that he was charged with second-degree Vehicular Homicide after an investigation revealed that the vehicle he was operating left the roadway and struck a utility pole, resulting in the death of a passenger in his vehicle on March 13, 2025.
Zambrano-Briones was additionally indicted for second-degree Leaving the Scene of a Crash that Resulted in Death, ACPO officials say.
According to Atlantic County officials, on March 13, at approximately 2:30 a.m., Gustavo Huestipa-Peralta (pictured), 38, also from Egg Harbor Township, was killed after the vehicle struck a utility pole on the Black Horse Pike in the City of Pleasantville.
It is alleged that Zambrano-Briones was intoxicated, which impaired his ability to operate the vehicle, ACPO authorities stated.
Atlantic County officials said Zambrano-Briones was located by Egg Harbor Township Police after fleeing the scene of the crash on foot.
