Man Gets Life in Prison for Fatal Shooting of Newark Man at an Irvington White Castle

A 33-year-old man was sentenced to life in prison for the fatal shooting of 39-year-old Tavaris Payne, of Newark, at a White Castle in Irvington in 2015.

Judge James W. Donohue, found 33-year-old Lamar Hunt, guilty in June of murder, unlawful possession of a weapon and  possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose in the 2015 killing of Payne.

Under the life sentence (75 years) Hunt will have to serve 85 percent. If released, he'll spend an additional five years under state supervision.
