Man Gets Five Year Sentence for Reckless Manslaughter of His Best Friend in a Jersey City

A 19-year-old man who shot his best friend in a Jersey City parking lot last year was sentenced today to five years.

Hudson County Superior Court Judge Mark Nelson sentenced Jacob Pommerehn, to five years in prison for the fatal shooting of his friend Anthony Rios, 17, on Van Horne Street on Sept. 12. 2016.

According to the criminal complaint, the teens were playing with two guns - a Beretta .09 handgun and Walther P22 .22 handgun - at the time of the shooting.

A judge ordered Pommerehn to serve at least four years in prison before becoming eligible for parole.
