Authorities in Essex County are investigating a deadly shooting in East Orange that left one man dead earlier today.
According to police, officers responded around 12:30 p.m. to reports of gunfire near Hamilton Street and North Clinton Street.
Officers arrived to find a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. He was pronounced dead shortly after.
The victim’s identity has not yet been released, and no additional details were immediately available.
The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office said the investigation remains ongoing.
