Man Found Shot Dead in Parking Lot of East Orange Laundromat

The Essex County Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation into a shooting that left a man dead in a parking lot of a parking lot in East Orange overnight.

The shooting has the city reeling from multiple episodes of violence that include nearly a dozen shootings, -with a half dozen of the incidents resulting in homicide investigations-, armed robberies and open air drug trafficking in several parts of the city.

According to the Essex County Prosecutor's Office, last night's violence added to the violence after officials confirmed a gunman opened fire on a man inside a parking lot of a busy laundromat them leaving the victim to die.

The incident happened before 10:30 p.m. at the Laundry Zone located in the 300 block of Central Avenue where reports of shots fired sent police to the scene where they found the victim struck by gunfire.

Medics pronounced the victim dead at the site according to authorities.

The motive for the shooting is under investigation.

Authorities have not released the identity of the victim at this time.
