Man Found Seriously Injured After Vehicle Strikes Him on Atlantic City Street

A man, lying in the roadway Thursday night, was seriously injured after he was struck by a vehicle in Atlantic City.

According to authorities, at approximately 8:41 p.m., officers responded to Iowa and Pacific Avenues for a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle.

Upon arrival, Officer Thomas Gilardi found Clarence Johnson, 32, suffering from serious injuries after being struck by a vehicle.

A preliminary investigation revealed that Jia Ou. Ou, 24, was traveling east on Pacific Avenue in his Mitsubishi Lancer when he encountered Johnson who was lying in middle of the intersection.

According to authorities, a witness, surveillance footage, and civilian footage obtained before and after the collision confirmed the driver’s accounts.

Police say Johnson was transported to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Division, with serious life-threatening injuries. Ou and his passenger were unharmed.

The incident is under investigation.
