Man Found Dead in Wooded Area of Lincoln Park After his Vehicle Ignited in Flames a Half Mile Away

An active and ongoing investigation is underway by Morris County law enforcement officials into a vehicle fire and death that occurred on Sunday in Lincoln Park. 

Morris County Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll said at approximately 7:16 a.m., the Lincoln Park Police and Fire Departments were notified of an active vehicle fire in the commercial area of 4 Ungerer Road in Lincoln Park.

Prosecutor Carroll said first responders immediately undertook fire suppression and extinguished the fire.

Several hours later, at approximately 3:00 p.m., Prosecutor Carroll said with the fire investigation still underway, the body of a male was discovered in a wooded area in Lynn Park, Lincoln Park, a half mile away from the fire scene.

Prosecutor Carroll said the investigation confirmed the victim's identity was the vehicle's driver previously located.

The cause and manner of death are pending findings of the Morris County Medical Examiner's Office.

"At this time,e there is no indication of suspicious criminal activity," Prosecutor Carroll said.

The Morris County Prosecutor's Office investigated with the Morris County Sheriff's Office, Lincoln Park Police Department, and the Lincoln Park Fire Department.
