An investigation into an afternoon crash Friday in Paterson revealed that the man found dead had been the victim of a gunshot wound.
Police responded to the 600 block of Broadway around 4 p.m. Friday for a report of a utility pole crash.
Upon arrival, officers found a man dead inside a Jeep that had crashed into a utility pole at that location.
However, further investigations revealed the driver had suffered a gunshot wound that may have killed him.
Although police are still trying to determine where and when the victim the was shot, authorities could only say this is an active hommcide investigation.
The identity of the male victim is being withheld at this time.
