Police in Elizabeth recovered the body of a male inside a vehicle at a parking lot of a store this evening.
According to a brief statement released by Elizabeth Spokeswoman Kelly Martin, police were called to the Forman Mills on Newark Avenue before 8 p.m.
Social media rumors that surfaced of a woman left a baby in a car was immediately knocked down by spokeswoman Martin who said that the confirmed deceased is an adult male who is around the age of 37-years-old.
According to Martin, the official cause of death is pending an investigation but it appears that the male died from an overdose inside the vehicle.
Detectives began their investigation after an acquaintance of the male requested a wellness check shortly before officers found him unconscious and unresponsive in the vehicle spokeswoman Martin said.
The incident remains under investigation.
