Police recovered the body of a man found inside a van in Newark's South Ward Tuesday afternoon.
City officials have not returned requests for public information, but according to reports at the scene and residents, just before 3 p.m., police responded to reports of suspicious activities near the intersection of Bragaw and Schley.
When officers arrived, they found a suspicious van in the area with an unconscious man inside.
The unidentified man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Residents said the van was on the street between 5-10 days before anyone called police.
The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office has not reported foul play at this time.
