A dangerous home invasion burglary that happened at a residence in Newark has police investigating.
The incident occurred shortly before noon in the 30's block of Pennington Street where a female resident heard noises in her house then saw a male intruder inside.
The woman reportedly hid in a closet while she called police reports said.
Several police units surrounded the house where they found the uninjured woman inside, but the suspect had fled the scene.
Officers canvassed several blocks in the neighborhood that borders McCarter Highway where they found a suspect fitting the description of the intruder on Tichenor Street.
The man was placed in custody without further incident.
The investigation is active and ongoing.
