A man was fatally struck by an NJ Transit train early Tuesday morning between Newark Liberty International Airport and Newark Penn Station, according to officials.
The incident occurred around 8:00 a.m. when Northeast Corridor train 3924, which departed from Trenton Transit Center at 7:11 a.m. en route to New York Penn Station, struck a male trespasser on the tracks.
The train was scheduled to arrive in Manhattan at 8:23 a.m.
NJ Transit confirmed that none of the approximately 800 passengers and crew members aboard the train were injured.
As a result of the incident, commuters faced delays of up to 30 minutes in and out of New York Penn Station during the morning rush hour.
New Jersey Transit police are leading the investigation into the fatality.
