A man lost his life Tuesday morning after being struck by a train near the Middletown train station, according to NJ Transit officials.
The incident occurred around 9:06 a.m. when a North Jersey Coast Line train, traveling from New York City and scheduled to arrive in Long Branch at 9:23 a.m., hit the man west of the station.
Authorities said the man was trespassing on the tracks at the time of the incident.

His body was turned over to the regional medical examiner, who will determine whether the death was accidental or a suicide.
The tragedy caused disruptions along the rail line as officials responded to the scene.
NJ Transit has not released additional details about the victim’s identity.
