Authorities are investigating a fatal police-involved shooting that occurred early Thursday morning in Woodbridge Township, Middlesex County, leaving a 35-year-old Carteret man dead.

According to information released by the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office of Public Integrity and Accountability, the incident unfolded shortly after 1:00 a.m. on May 29, 2025, when Woodbridge Police officers responded to a 911 call regarding a domestic dispute at a residence on East Tappen Street in the Port Reading section of the township.
The man involved in the domestic incident, identified as Aamir Allen, reportedly left the area on foot and made his way toward a nearby convenience store along Port Reading Avenue.
During an encounter outside the store, Mr. Allen was seen holding a baseball bat when he was confronted by officers.
One of the responding officers, Sergeant Marco Bruno, discharged his service weapon during the interaction.
Allen was struck and rushed to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick around 1:40 a.m., but he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at 9:21 a.m.

The Attorney General’s Office is leading the investigation, as required by law in all incidents involving the use of deadly force by police officers in New Jersey.
