Authorities in Passaic County are investigating a fatal incident that unfolded late Thursday night at a country club in Woodland Park.

According to a joint statement from Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Woodland Park Police Chief Luigi DeLuca, officers were dispatched to the West Mount Country Club at approximately 11:56 p.m. on December 18, 2025, after receiving a report of an unresponsive man.
Responding officers located a 46-year-old man from Plainfield who had been involved in a physical confrontation with another individual.
During the altercation, the victim was struck in the face, authorities said.
The man was transported to Saint Joseph’s University Medical Center, where he was later pronounced deceased.
Investigators said the unidentified male involved in the confrontation fled the scene in a vehicle before police arrived.
No description of the suspect or the vehicle was immediately released.

The incident remains under active investigation by the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office and the Woodland Park Police Department. Officials said additional information will be released as it becomes available.
