Authorities in Paterson are investigating a pedestrian strike that killed a man this evening at a location in the city.
According to preliminary reports, police were called to the vicinity of 13 Salem Road after they received calls that a man was trapped and crushed under a vehicle at approximately 6:45 p.m.
When emergency responders arrived, they found the severely injured victim trapped under the car in an unconscious and unresponsive state according to preliminary reports.
The unidentified man was pronounced dead at the scene according to authorities.
Police are investigating the possibility that the victim was accidentally struck by a family member -who was backing out of the driveway- but has not confirmed circumstances at this time.
