Man Charged with Theft by Deception in Somerville

Authorities in Somerset County announced the arrest of Jonathan I. Najarro, 32, Teneyke Place, Rahway, in relation to a theft by deception that occurred between July 2022 and October 2022 in Somerville.Ad Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald stated that on October 4, 2023, two victims reported to the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office that they provided funds totaling approximately $202,920 to Jonathan Najarro to purchase multiple luxury vehicles, which were never received.

The theft occurred between July 2022 and October 2022 in Somerville, officials said.

Officials said a detective from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Special Investigation Unit conducted interviews with both victims.

According to officials, an investigation was then conducted into Jonathan Najarro and his company, J and J Auto Sound and Security Corporation.

As a result of this investigation, on Friday, December 15, 2023, Defendant Jonathan Najarro was arrested at the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office without incident and charged with 2nd-degree Theft by Deception, officials say.

Authorities say defendant Najarro was subsequently lodged in the Somerset County Jail pending a detention hearing in this matter.
