According to authorities on Tuesday, October 1, members of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit arrested a Jersey City man in connection with the murder of Jason Dunbar on August 27th.
Officials say detectives also charged a Jersey City woman with hindering the investigation.
According to Hudson County officials, at approximately 2:35 a.m., members of the Homicide Unit arrested Darius Bolden, 33, of Jersey City, at the Hudson County Correctional Facility in Kearny where he is currently incarcerated on narcotics charges.
Officials say on Tuesday, August 27, 2019, at approximately 11:45 p.m., the Jersey City Police Department received a report of shots fired in the area of 169 Fulton Avenue in Jersey City.
Upon arrival, responding Jersey City Police Officers found an unresponsive male outside of that location with apparent multiple gunshot wounds.
The male, later identified as Jason Dunbar, 35, of Jersey City, was treated at the scene before being transported by Emergency Medical Services to Jersey City Medical Center.
Officials say Dunbar was pronounced dead at approximately 12:30 a.m. on August 28.
The Regional Medical Examiner’s Office has found the cause of death to be multiple gunshot wounds and manner of death to be homicide.
He has been charged with Murder in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:11-3, a first-degree crime; Possession of a Weapon (Firearm) for an Unlawful Purpose in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:39-4; and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon (Firearm) in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:39-5.
The Prosecutor’s Office has filed a motion for pretrial detention of the defendant.
A hearing has been scheduled for Wednesday, October 9, 2019.
Official say on October 1, Ms. Yasmin Tejada, 30, of Jersey City, was charged for giving false information to law enforcement officers during the homicide investigation.
Police charged Tejada was on a Complaint-Summons with one count of Hindering in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:29-3, a third- degree crime.
Prosecutor Suarez credited the Homicide Unit with the investigation leading to the arrests and the Jersey City Police Department for assisting with the investigation.
