Man Charged in Connection with Aggravated Assault in Highland Park

Middlesex County officials announced today that the male responsible for the aggravated assault that took place on June 5 has been arrested and charged.

According to county officials, on Tuesday afternoon, June 28, Theodomiro Casamiro, 23, was apprehended without incident in Liberty, Missouri, by the Liberty Police Department and the Kansas City Missouri Police Department. 

Casamiro is currently lodged at the Clay County Detention Center, Liberty, MO, and is pending extradition.

Officials said that on Sunday, June 5, at approximately 4:00 a.m., the Highland Park Police Department responded to a 911 call in the area of 130 Raritan Avenue, Highland Park. 

An initial investigation by the Highland Park Police Department and Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office revealed that an adult female victim was approached and physically attacked while walking along Raritan Avenue by an unknown male.

An investigation by Detective Sean McGraw of the Highland Park Police Department and Detective Greg MacDonald of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office, with the assistance of the Edison Police Department, identified Theodomiro Casamiro as the assailant. 

According to officials, Casamiro was employed in Edison and believed to be living in Highland Park. 

County officials said that Casamiro has been charged with aggravated assault and kidnapping.
