Man Charged with Burglarizing Wendy's Restaurant in Newark

Newark Police have charged Nathaniel Hartwell, 26, for a burglary that occurred on Thursday,l morning at the Wendy’s restaurant located at 339 West Market Street.

Police said at approximately 3:50 a.m. officers responded to the restaurant on a burglary alarm.

Money from two cash registers had been stolen according to authorities.

Video surveillance captured footage of Hartwell inside the establishment after it had been closed.

Hartwell was arrested by officers of the East Orange Police Department for burglarizing another fast food restaurant in that town on the same day police said.

Following an intense investigation, Newark detectives determined that Hartwell is the suspect in the Wendy’s restaurant burglary. He is charged with Burglary, Theft and Criminal Mischief in the Newark incident.

These charges are merely accusations.

The suspect is presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law.
