Authorities in Newark are reporting the arrest of Aaron Perez, 21, of Newark, for possession of a loaded handgun and CDS last night.
According to police, at approximately 10:30 p.m., police patrolling the area of Hawkins and Ferry Street in the East Ward observed a male suspect with a gun.
The suspect entered a residential building where police located him attempting to enter an apartment.
Officers found the man in possession of a loaded Sig Sauer handgun and 163 small plastic bags of suspected CDS cocaine and 6 bags of suspected CDS heroin.
The suspect, Aaron Perez, was immediately arrested.
He is charged with CDS Possession (heroin and cocaine) and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon.
These charges are merely accusations.
The suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
