Man Brought to Newark Hospital in Private Vehicle Suffering Multiple Bullet Wounds; Homicide

The Essex County Prosecutors Office is investigating a fatal shooting that left a man dead overnight in Newark. 

According to preliminary reports, officials at Beth Israel Hospitals notified police when a bloodied man arrived at the emergency room suffering multiple bullet wounds around midnight. 

The unidentified man was pronounced dead by medical personnel a short time later. 

Police checked a location on Vassar Avenue after associates of the victim reported that the incident happened in the South Ward community. They reportedly drove the man to the hospital. 

Police found a crime scene at 260 Pampna Avenue. 

It appeared that a gunman repeatedly fired into the victim’s vehicle before fleeing the scene. 

The investigation is its early stages and no suspects have been identified at this time.
