Man, Boy Shot During Pleasantville High School Football Game

Detectives for the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office are looking into a shooting that left two people injured at a football game on Friday night in Pleasantville.

According to preliminary reports from The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office, at approximately 8:45 p.m., gunfire rang out at the football stadium, sending spectators running for cover.

According to a statement released by Prosecutor Tyler, the incident happened in the third quarter of the Pleasantville High School vs. Camden game, where multiple rounds of gunfire rang in the lower level bleachers on the Pleasantville High School side of the field.

Officials said when police arrived at the scene, they found an adult male and a young boy suffering unspecified injuries at that location.

Prosecutor Tyler said the child was airlifted to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, where doctors began treating his wounds. According to Prosecutor Tyler, the man was transported to an area hospital.

A witness to the shooting said before medical personnel transported the boy to the hospital, they treated heavy bleeding coming from his neck while he layed motionless on the bleacher. According to the witness, the adult was found about two bleachers up from the boy.

Police closed off the stadium and street in the area for the investigation.

The motive for the shooting has not been released at this time.
