Man on Bike Commits Strong Armed Carjacking in Newark's North Ward

A Sunday afternoon carjacking that happened in the city's North Ward has police looking for the suspect who left a bicycle behind before taking the victim's vehicle.

The incident happened at around 1 p.m. in the 100 block of Peck Avenue when a male suspect who was riding a dark colored bicycle in the area pulled up to the victim who was near his vehicle.

A struggle ensued when the suspect began to physically attack and strike the victim several times in the face, gaining access to the vehicle then eventually speeding away in it according to reports.

The suspect was described as a black males with dreads who was not armed with a weapon when he took a 2015 green Subaru Forrester with a reported NJ license plate number "F26-FJZ".

The victim's injuries were reported as non-life threatening.
