Police from East Orange and Newark are surrounding a house on Hawthorne Place in East Orange this evening as they attempt to get a man to come out of a house peacefully.
The incident unfolded before 8:30 p.m. and has Newark's Special Weapons and Tactics team assisting at this time.
There are reports that the suspect has occupants inside the house that he is refusing to allow outside access.
It is not clear what the man is wanted for.
Authorities from Newark confirmed that the police department is playing an assistance role in the situation.
UPDATE 10:10 p.m. In custody no injuries. The suspect allegedly posted noted a weapon at an East Orange Police Officer.
