Man Arrested for Shooting at Police in New Brunswick

Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone, Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson, and Director Anthony A. Caputo announced Tuesday that authorities are investigating a report of shots fired this afternoon in the New Brunswick.

According to police, at approximately 12:35 p.m. detectives working for the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office attempted to make a motor vehicle stop on Mitchell Avenue in the City of New Brunswick.

The passenger in the vehicle fled on foot and discharged a handgun as he fled. The officers did not return fire. After a brief foot chase, the suspect was placed in custody.

Police say the driver of the vehicle left the scene and was later apprehended by New Brunswick Police.

Both individuals were taken into custody without injuries to the suspects or officers.
